Where does the time go?!??!?!

Well it has been over a year since I last posted anything. It has been a difficult and a wonderful year all rolled into one. We had a death and a
birth in the family, bitter and sweet. In September we found out that Rob's dad had cancer, lymphoma. We started treatments at Huntsman things were going very well. If you knew Rob's dad you know what a fighter/amazing man he was. Somehow he got an infection and it went down hill from there. We moved him from hospital to hospital, nursing home to finally hospice at home. Clyde passed away December 15, 2009. It has been such a hard year, especially for my sweet husband. Rob and Clyde were best friends, they did everything together. We all sort of feel cheated! We are so grateful for the gospel and the knowledge that we will all be together again someday but right now we are struggling through the loss of an amazing (amazing doesn't even begin to cover it) man. July of last year we started the invitro process for the 4th time and happily we found out in August that we would be having a baby in May. We were so excited and thankful for all of the many prayers on our behalf. What a blessing these little ones are. On May 9, 2010 (mother's day) we were blessed with another little boy, Chase Clyde Wright. 6lb13 oz and 19.5' long. The best mother's day gift ever!!! :) 2 little boys we couldn't be more thrilled! Logan is so excited to have a little brother, though I think he thought Chase would come out running and ready to play trains, batman and more! We have had so much fun this summer, it is going to take me the next several months to try and catch up on everything.

Red Sox

On my last trip to Boston I was planning to get Logan a ball cap and shirt but of course I was running to the airport and wasn't able to grab anything. I had mentioned it to my boss that I was planning to get Logan something and low and behold a few days later this adorable had and shirt show up in the mail!! What a great boss I have!

My niece and nephew play baseball, Ryan plays on 2 teams, Abby plays and Ginn (heather's husband) coaches both Abby, Ryan and plays on his own team. So to say the least Logan will have plenty of places to show off his baseball shirt!! We will be spending quite a few days at the ballpark this summer.

Cade's Birthday Party

Logan went to his first official friend birthday party today! I was a little worried that he might not be so 'hip' on giving the gift of tonka trucks to his little friend but all went well and he had a great time. They had a little bouncy castle outside and since it was next door I was able to sneak a peak every so often! He is getting so big I can hardly believe it....where does the time go?!

Disneyland 09

Disneyland was so amazing!! My sister and her 2 girls came with us....and yes we are all still friends. So many good laughs and memories made. Logan had the time of his life. We ran non stop, we need a vacation to recoup from our vacation!! We went on Splash mountain so many times, I forgot how fun that ride is. The Tower of Terror is as awesome as always! We went on rides we didn't even know existed. Disneyland is totally different when you are with kids. Rob and I have been several times w/o kids so of course we don't hang out in Toon Town or in A Bugs Life/World....which is totally adorable by the way. We are already ready to go back it was really so much fun!

Spring is in the air...

So my tulips are peeking through the dirt. I couldn't be more excited!!! There is nothing like the tulips popping up after a long cold winter. I can hardly wait to see them. Last fall I went to Costco and bought a big bag of bulbs and thought oh I will share these with someone they are such a good deal I must get the entire bag. Well I planted them all in my front yard so....fingers crossed they will all bloom and be beautiful!!!

So 2 days ago, the day it snowed our furnace stopped working. Talk about a cold night. We kept putting more and more blankets on Logan and I wore a snowsuit to bed....I am such a wimp when it comes to the cold. You would think I grew up in Texas not Freezing cold Cornish, UT. BRRrrrr

While in Target today I found these spiderman floaties. Logan went nuts over them so we put them on the "have to have" list for our trip to Cali/Disneyland next week. I didn't think that he would spend the rest of the day and evening wearing them. He was so dang cute running around like he was a true super hero!

Santa the Conductor!

Logan kept calling the conductor Ho Ho....it was so funny! Click for a good laugh.

Conductor Logan at Union Station

We went to Union Station in Ogden today. It was a beautiful day but it wasn't exactly warm. We were there for the train show, it was a lot of fun!! Logan was going crazy over all of the model trains. There were a lot of real trains that Logan was able to be a little conductor on too. I think the best part of the day was when we road the Jupiter train the conductor had white hair and a long white beard and Logan looked at him and said Ho Ho. He thought it was Santa!! He kept saying it over and over....Rob and I along with a few others sitting next to us were cracking up!
He really did look a little like Santa!!!

Logan the Lion

Logan is the cutest darn lion! He snuggles in his little lion towel after a bath and I think my favorite part is when he starts running away and his cute little cheeks jiggle!! I sure missed him while I was away!

Last week I was in Boston so Rob and I went and bought video cams. They are the best, it made our week go by so much better. I was able to say goodnight to Logan every night which was priceless!! Rob is in Portland this week so we will again be doing the bedtime rituals via the web cam. I think it helps Logan deal with out daddy for a few days.

A little crowded....

When I went to tuck Logan in for bed I noticed that Daddy had filled up his bed with trains and the entire train track.......seriously there was no room for anything else. I started laughing because not only is our kid getting way too huge for a crib but add in a few train sets and vuala you have got one CROWDED little bed.

He really is adorable....even if he is spoiled! :)

Creating a MONSTER!!!

So not sure how many of you feel about spoiling your kids but....I am afraid I am creating a monster. Granted, Logan is an only child and who knows how long this will be the case. He is the light of our lives and so we love to see him smile, laugh and just be dang dreamy! Well, recently when I have told him no, he has an absolute fit. Obviously, I haven't said NO enough because it sends him into a complete and udder tantrum!!!! I try to remember that I am the adult and that it is completely unacceptable to throw myself down on the ground and kick and scream with him. Although today this is exactly what I wanted to do.

Maybe I will just have a yard sale and get rid of all his toys until I can learn not to spoil him and he can learn to appreciate them. I know what you are thinking.....this is no ones fault except my own. I GET IT....I just don't know what to do. I think a bubble bath will make it all go away, maybe not but it will be the alone time I need to sort this mess out. Look out teen years if I am already having this sort of melt down.

Good times with the UTAH JAZZ!!

So my friend Mishell had tickets for the Jazz game last night! We were actually in the lower bowl, which never happens for me. I usually end up in the rafters so it was nice to actually see the players. The real entertainment was the crazy fans.....take a look!!

The one guy kept doing the robot and some other really "fancy" moves!! GO FIGHT WIN!!!!

Dino-Museum!!

Playgroup this week was at the Dinosaur Museum!! The kids had a great time and the ladies and I got to chat and catch....mission accomplished. Of course I wasn't able to leave w/o a dinosaur for Logan to play with. He is really getting into them, nice change from the trains, bob the builder and Cars he has been into.

They speak English in England?!?! Who Knew?...

Can you say DUH!

So, I served my mission in England and was reading one of my favorite companions blog and saw this. I thought you would get a kick out of it. Enjoy!

Walmart Wackiness

I went to Walmart today to pick up some things and as I was waiting for my goods to be rung up I had the following conversation with the Cashier, a twenty-something woman:

Cashier: Where are you from you have an accent?
Me: England
Cashier: I should've guessed
Me: Well, sometimes people think I'm from Australia
Cashier: How long have you lived here?
Me: About 3 years
...... about 30 seconds passes by.......
Cashier: You speak English very well, did you learn it over here?
...... she says this with a straight face, no hint of sarcasm whatsoever......
Me: Pardon????????????
Cashier: Did you have to learn English when you came here?
Me: Umm, no, I've been speaking it since I was born, England is where English originated and the language we speak there.
Cashier: Oh, I never knew that, we didn't learn anything about England in school.

Diet tips......as if?!?!?!

HOLIDAY EATING TIPS

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare... You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a
slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one
Pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.

Remember this motto to live by:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave
with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand,
body thoroughly used up,
totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Have a great holiday season!!

San Fran

I love to visit San Francisco!! It was perfect weather and entertaining evenings. I had team meetings last week and then was able to enjoy a little of the city. The first night we were out and about we were looking for something to eat and came across this little pizza place. A whole in the wall but pretty tasty actually. As we get our food we hear this screaming and yelling outside. We go out and see this guy yelling at what we assume is his girlfriend. They are fighting and he is all up in her face and won't let her leave. I tell Keith, my 6'3 collegue, that we should help her out. Second thought we don't know the situation, drugs a gun....who knows so we watch it play out for a bit. Keith is standing on the street with salad in hand and eating. I look over and say, Keith - this is not a dinner and a movie. It was seriously so funny to see him just eating and watching like HEY what else do you expect in SF?!?!?!

Good times for sure!

Teatro Zinzani - This is a dinner and a show unlike the one mentioned above. It is an audience participation type show and was so dang funny!! Should be for the price, dang! Haven't laughed this hard in a while. As you can see we got all the bling needed to PARTICIPATE. It isn't possible to be embarrassed because you look at the next table and they look just as silly or even more so. The face painting was a nice touch too.

Halloween Hoedown

Yee-haw! Hope you all had a happy Halloween! Logan went trick or treating at my work and was pretty much done trick or treating by the time we tried to hit our neighborhood. He was getting the hang of picking out his treat and putting it in his bucket. However once the kids starting coming to our house he would check out their bucket o'treats and select one of their treats as his own. He didn't quite get the idea that sometimes you take and other times you give! It was really dreamy actually. Everytime the doorbell rang he would bolt to the door squeeling!! I think he actually had more fun seeing all the kids in their costumes and taking THEIR candy than anything else!

It was a great Halloween!

Twilight......

Ok, so I have had several of you ask why I haven't been updating my blog or doing anything on my facebook account. I thought about it for a minute and was like well.....lets see. Then finally I realized that the last time I updated was over a month ago. Hhhmmm, about the time I started reading Twilight the first book in the series. Well that explains it.

Well I have to admit that I have been addicted to the dang Twilight series. Seriously, I am on book 4, Breaking Dawn, and will be returning to the real world very shortly. These books have been so good. Now I am just waiting to see the movie that comes out this month!

Happy Anniversary Rob!!

Rob and I are celebrating our 6 year anniversary today. It has gone by so fast and has been the best 6 years of my life!! I tell everyone all the time that Rob is my better half and I mean it 100%. He was worth the wait. I was telling a friend that Rob was 27 and I was 26 (you do the math) when we got married and she said 'uhm, oh' she was so shocked that we were "so old"....as if?!?!???! I wouldn't change a thing about my single days and the good times I had. Then finally finding my soul mate and being completely ready in every way to tie the knot! To tell you the truth I think 26 is the perfect age to get married, it was enough time for me to grow up, get to travel, shop my guts out and PLENTY of time to be a little selfish....we all know that that goes away quickly when you get married and even more once you have children. We have a beautiful son who is the apple of our eye! We adore him in every way!!! Thanks for being a good daddy Rob!

Well, enough of that. Happy Anniversary Rob!!! Here is to 6 happy years and many more to come.
